The road along the coastline of the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding National is simply stunning – as are all the off-shoots which will take you inland.
The views of the Solway Firth and Scotland beyond, the historic points of interest along the way, the wildlife and the agriculture, and some great places to stop and enjoy the landscape all combine to make this a great place for a drive.
There are plenty of informal parking areas here – please don’t block farm access or venture on to private land – or you will see parking signposted in the towns and villages. Alternatively, head for one of the local car parks run by Allerdale Borough Council.
