England Coast Path Celebrations in the North West – National Trails
Join the Solway Coast NL, Natural England and a whole range of partners for a weekend of activities to celebrate and enjoy the new King Charles III England Coast Path in Cumbria!
Take a walk along the coast path from Allonby to Maryport to take part in a range of activities to help you enjoy and learn all about the coast, including wildlife spotting, beach mindfulness, photography, Roman re-enactment, shoreline beasties, beach games, storytelling and Tikes Hikes for adults with young children. Drop into Blue Dial Farm on route for a well-earned rest and to meet organisations working along the coast with lots of information and activities about how to enjoy and learn more about this very special coastline. There will be something for all ages and abilities!
Please note than some activities are drop in and others are timed slots so it’s advisable to call in early if you’re interested in a particular activity. Keep an eye out here for a programme of timed activities which will be announced nearer the date.
Parking is limited at Blue Dial so why not pick up our free shuttle minibus running between 10am and 4pm between Maryport Aquarium, Crosscanonby Carr, Blue Dial Farm and Allonby. Or walk or cycle our off-road, accessible path from Maryport or Allonby and be wowed by the “Beach of Dreams” art installation along the route.
At 12 noon on Sunday 9th July, on the green outside Twentymans in Allonby, join us to cheer along our community procession around Allonby village in the culmination of a project celebrating the fishing heritage of the coastline, followed with a bring your own community picnic on the green.
Keep an eye out on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for updates.

Naomi and Sophie will be there on both days to talk to people about the national landscape and what makes this part of the coast special. We hope to see some of you there.
